Time flies when you are having fun and that is exactly what the NOLA guys have been doing over the past year that they have been opened. One year of festivities, partying, dancing and drinking great booze for the New Orleans Louisiana inspired haunt. Instead of sitting back and relaxing on their day of birth, NOLA has stepped things up with a massive laneway party over two days.
On the 26th and 27th of November, Vardon Avenue will be closed off for NOLA’s ‘Birthday Beer Bash’. Delicious beery nectar will pour from a total of 26 taps with breweries representing SA, interstate and overseas. The list is a formidable statement, with staff favourites 8 Wired, Garage Project, Brewdog, Modus Operandi, Pirate Life, Swell and Yeastie Boys all making an appearance. Some one off collaborations will be poured on the day including a session sour ale from Barossa Valley, a wheat style beer from Big Shed, the Naked Objector from Little Bang and Mismatch’s Blood Moon IPA just to name a few. The list then continues with some one off seasonal kegs such as some barrel aged beers from Clare Valley, Feral and Young Henrys, a hoppy saison for Brew Boys, a German Black IPA from Moondog, the Candy Mountain IPA from Holgate and Hawker’s Russian Imperial Stout.
The party will be set a light with live bands jamming in the street, DJs cranking out New Orleans style beats and Crackle and Pop Records popping up to sell some vinyl. Food will be provided by NOLA in the way of smoked meats and a recovery style Sunday morning brunch. However, let’s be honest, this party is all about the beer and with that killer line up I can not wait for the weekend. The weather is looking sunny and NOLA’s life is only young, see you there from 12pm on Saturday and 11am on Sunday.
